Teen killed, another injured in early morning truck accident

Allowing teenagers to have a sense of freedom behind the wheel is not always easy for parents. Most worry about their children's safety, even if their teens are otherwise safe and cautious drivers. The reality is that driving can be dangerous no matter how well a driver acts behind the wheel. A West Virginia community may have realized this after a teenager was killed in a truck accident while on his way to school.

The 16-year-old teen was driving himself and his sister to school when they were involved in a serious accident. The wreck occurred in an area that the local community describes as a difficult curve that comes after a stretch of straight roadway. A tractor-trailer was traveling on the same curve and collided head-on with the teenager's SUV.

The high school sophomore suffered fatal injuries in the accident and died. His younger sister survived the accident but suffered serious injuries that required medical attention. She was transported to an area hospital. The boy's classmates and fellow players on his high school football team learned of the deadly accident that same day.

For parents, there is perhaps no pain worse than that of losing a child. When a child's death was caused by a negligent or careless driver, it might be necessary to seek compensation through a wrongful death lawsuit. There is nothing that can bring back a lost loved one after a truck accident, but successfully pursued wrongful death claims can help West Virginia families address the ongoing financial and emotional damages of an unexpected death. This includes compensation for things like funeral expenses, medical bills, lost wages and even emotional suffering.
